2. Use of The Phlebotomy Centre
a. Due to the nature of the services offered by The Phlebotomy Centre, we do not take any responsibility for the actions and words of any of its members in any professional capacity. Consequently, being a member does not defer any responsibility away from yourself or any other professional organisation you belong to
a. Especially relevant, The Phlebotomy Centre provides this website as an exclusive service to potential members, existing members, and for general information purposes. Therefore, carefully review the following basic rules that govern your use of the website.
b. In addition to the above, note that your use of the website constitutes your unconditional agreement to follow and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. This includes actions of use of the website, providing any materials to the website or downloading any materials from the website.
4. Personal Information
a. Most importantly, we will treat your personal information as confidential. Therefore, we will handle it in a secure manner as required by data protection legislation.
b. While your details may be used to promote other products and services we feel may be appropriate to your needs, by email or social media, and if you do not wish to receive marketing information from us, let us know. As a result, our contact details are provided here.
c. As a result of this, you agree to provide true, accurate, current, and complete information when registering with any service offered by The Phlebotomy Centre.
d. It is entirely your responsibility to maintain and promptly update your personal information to keep it true, accurate, current, and complete.
e. In addition, if you provide any information that is fraudulent, untrue, inaccurate, incomplete, or not current, or we have reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is fraudulent, untrue, inaccurate, incomplete, or not current and therefore, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your membership/registration. If this does occur, we will not refund the cost of any services including membership costs already paid.
5. Insurance Cover
a. The Phlebotomy Centre offers a range of membership packages and within each package are specific benefits which the paid member is entitled to receive.
b. Because of this, our Premium Membership Package includes an application form to apply for Insurance Cover which is provided to our members by Hiscox Insurance Company Limited.
c. The Phlebotomy Centre accept payment by cheque, electronic transfer or credit/debit cards. Although, all insurance information, details or changes, as well as premiums, are not dealt with by The Phlebotomy Centre. Therefore, upon receiving payment, paid members will receive an application form which they must complete, sign, date and return to The Phlebotomy Centre by post. If purchasing the Premium Membership Package, any criminal convictions must be mentioned. The Phlebotomy Centre will ensure that the application for insurance cover is filled in correctly before submitting to our insurance provider. If successful, members will receive their insurance certificate by email/post.
6. Insurance Cover: Cord Blood Collection
a. The responsibilities of a Phlebotomist when collecting Umbilical Cord Blood are that they must demonstrate they are trained or booked onto a recognised training course specifically in cord blood collection.
b. By law, since 5 July 2008 anyone collecting cord blood must be appropriately trained and working under the authority of an Human Tissue Authority licence.
c. They must be aware that the premises where the cord blood is collected must be risk assessed by a trained individual as fit for purpose and this assessment must be documented, therefore the Phlebotomist must ensure the family they are working with and his/her’s own safety at all times. This applies to both home birth and hospital settings.
d. Under no circumstances must a Phlebotomist collect blood from a placenta that is still ‘in-utero’. The placenta must have separated from the mother as this can interfere with the physiological process of childbirth and cause complications.
7. Cancelling your membership
Your Membership with The Phlebotomy Centre and/or all associated services will automatically end 12 months after the membership start date unless renewed. You may not be notified of the required renewal date and the responsibility of renewal remains with you. Please note that if you do have Insurance Cover through our Premium Membership Package, we will take every care to inform you of renewal dates, in conclusion, we hold no responsibility for ensuring you are legally covered by Insurance to practice in Phlebotomy.
8. Conditions of partnerships
We will only work with companies where:
a. The activity being supported fits within our company mission, vision and values.
b. The activity meets the criteria and conditions outlined in this policy.
c. Furthermore, the relationship is not subject to any conditions that are unacceptable or conditions that prevent us from acting in the best interests of Phlebotomists, members of the public, or other healthcare professionals. We will enter written agreements with companies with whom we work which document the agreed terms and conditions.
d. We can ensure that our independence is maintained so that we are free to speak freely and comprehensively in a balanced way about and to other companies.
e. We must ensure that our editorial independence is maintained so that we are free to comment both positively and negatively about other companies and their products.
a. The membership cost is displayed on the membership page. This cost reflects the annual cost for those members who pay in full on an annual basis. Memberships can only be purchased by payments made in full. For any new member who is not referred to The Phlebotomy Centre by our recruitment partner Square Health, we do not accept installments or payments made after membership begins. However, if required, and if an individual is referred to us through Square Health, we are able to offer flexibility and allow those members to pay per month if requested. The cost per month is £14.50 which includes the cost of allowing this option. The total premium in this instance is £174. We incur admin charges for allowing/accepting monthly installments and therefore we include this in the membership cost.
b. The Phlebotomy Centre withholds the right to change the membership cost at any time, however, would not, under any circumstances, expect existing members to pay more after they have already made their payment.
c. Once payment has been made, the membership with The Phlebotomy Centre will be valid for 13 months, and insurance will commence on the date requested by the individual until 12 months after that date.
d. There are no cancellation fees required at the end of a yearly membership subscription. If the membership has not been renewed, it will automatically be cancelled in full.
e. If payment has been made successfully and the membership package includes Insurance cover, all members are given a discretion of 28 days to complete their documentation correctly and return this to us to be processed.
f. All payments made on the site are secure, and no details are stored or retained on our servers. The payment data is securely managed by Stripe. All card numbers are encrypted to Banking standards. None of Stripe’s internal servers are able to obtain plaintext card numbers.

a. Members can request a refund by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
b. Due to data protection, Membership Packages cannot be transferred to another name. Except in the instance of marriage/divorce or change of name by deed poll takes place, in which case Members are required to inform The Phlebotomy Centre promptly.
c. As much as it may be frustrating for our members, The Phlebotomy Centre does not send copies of lost/misplaced Insurance Certificates. Therefore, let us know if you require the contact details of the insurance provider.
d. All members have a 14 day cooling off period. If they wish to cancel their membership within 14 days of payment, the total payment will be refunded.
e. If the documentation for Premium Membership, including insurance cover, is not returned to The Phlebotomy Centre for processing by the 28th day after making payment and the member no longer wishes to continue their application, The Phlebotomy Centre will only process a refund of 50% membership joining fee.
f. Refunds will only be made via bank transfer, to the same bank account, the payment was originally taken from.
g. As a result, no refunds will be offered under any circumstances which you fail to provide information to The Phlebotomy Centre which is not true, accurate or complete. For example, if you fail to disclose any criminal convictions and subsequently insurance cover is not granted, no refunds will be given. Yet, if this decision falls on or before 14 days since purchasing the membership, you will be entitled to a 50% refund only due to the fact that we do not accept any form of dishonesty.
